Homemade Fondant!

I love pinterest. Then again, what teenage girl doesn’t? It feeds my addiction to baking. Lately, all I’ve seen are these gorgeous cakes. Covered in fondant, with beautiful colors, they make me melt with happiness! (Yes I realize that was a totally cheesy statement. Don’t worry 😉 )
I thought, what better a time to try my hand at using fondant! Usually I never use fondant for my cakes because I simply think it tastes gross. Too sugary and thick. However I stumbled upon this fondant recipe recently, using marshmallows, and I thought, heck this could actually be good! Maybe it’ll taste like taffy!
The final taste test yielded a result, of 8 out of 10. I’m a tough critic, try it out and you can decide for yourself!

Ingredients:
About 2 cups of marshmallows (I used mini, but regular or jumbo would also work.)
Powdered sugar (you’ll need at least 3 cups handy, but will probably not use all of it)

Directions:

Melt marshmallows in the microwave on high for approximately 30 seconds.

Start adding powdered sugar until a soft, non sticky dough forms!

I rolled it out with a rolling pin and draped it over my little cake and did some decorating… Wanna see? 🙂
