About Me

Why hello there! My name is Rikki. I live in Portland OR. I’m a part-time baker and full-time little sister.  I create my own recipes but I love to bake the classics. I started baking nearly 6 years ago by sharing my recipes on Snapguide, a social networking app and website allowing you to share “how-to’s” and I loved it. I had so much positive feed back on my baked goods, that I thought, why not start a blog! The blog led to a Youtube channel.. and the baking and recipe sharing grew into a love of cake decorating. After a wedding cake design course in 2014 at The San Francisco Baking Institute, I’ve come to enjoy creating wedding cakes for brides all over PDX. If you need a celebration cake, wedding cake, or you just want to make a great recipe and share some sweetness with your loved ones… You’ve come to the right place!

  1. in your chocolate cake recipe your list of ingredients calls for 1 Tbsp of baking soda, Following recipe instructions you sift flour, cocoa, salt & baking POWDER. Which is right – 1 Tbsp baking soda -or- powder

  2. Hello Rikki i have been baking for about two years now and i’ve been self taught pretty much, but i still have a lot to learn i think. I was curious on how did you learn so fast and how did you practice? did you take a culinary baking class? I am dreaming to open my own bakery/cake shop one day and it’s great to find someone young that loves baking too. I would really love some tips if it’s not too much. I love your recipes I will definitely try them! =]

    Thank you!

    1. Hi Katerina!

Thank you so much for commenting. I have been baking for about 4 years now, and its trial and error for me too! I had not taken any classes, up until this last April, when I got the privilege to attend the San Francisco Baking Institute for a course on Wedding Cakes! (I have a post about that!) My advice for you, would be to keep baking and experimenting. Some of my favorite desserts I’ve made have been recipes I created all on my own. I encourage you to keep reading and watching different videos on everything you want to make. And if you make mistakes, it is likely someone else has as well, google it! See what you did wrong! Some specific tips I’ve picked up through my time baking would be, don’t over bake(!!!!), pre heat your oven, (This is SO important), make sure you have all your ingredients in line before you begin, and finally just have fun!! That’s what its all about anyway! 🙂 Good Luck to you Kat! Happy Baking!!

      Xoxo- Rikki
